A cycle route that lets you discover all the attractions of the Seine Valley in gentle traffic. And you can choose what you want to do: embark on a real cycle touring adventure lasting several days, or take a short stroll with friends or family along the banks of the Seine, crossing Normandy and its river heritage in particular.

A Nature and Fun stage

After Vernon and Giverny, from Les Andelys to the gates of Rouen, the Seine-Eure region follows the meanders of the Seine to offer cyclists its characteristic, unspoilt natural landscapes. The towpaths, once used by boatmen to pull their boats, are now the perfect place for cyclists in search of serenity and bucolic waterside scenery, particularly at Poses, Portejoie and Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray.

More sensational: the limestone hillsides of the Seine valley and the impressive panoramas of Seine-Eure to be found at their summits are well worth putting your foot down on the course! As long as you’ve got good cycling legs, you might as well take advantage of the opportunity to climb the famous Côte des Deux Amants, for example, and enjoy its exceptional view over the river at Amfreville-sous-les-Monts, crossing the Poses dam via its footbridge.

The route is also a great way to get to the top of the Seine Valley.

For fun: head for the Léry-Poses leisure park, which is crossed by the Seine à Vélo! The large Deux Amants lake offers a host of water-based leisure activities for a little relaxation along the way: beach, paddle, pedalo, canoe, water ski lift, electric surf, winfsurf, etc. Not far away, still on the banks of the river, climbing enthusiasts can go rock-climbing or paragliding.

For an exotic cycling stopover, the animal gardens Biotropica will provide a break that children will appreciate with its large tropical greenhouse and its outdoors where amazing animal species can be seen all year round!

And where to stay: it couldn’t be easier with the leisure park’s range of accommodation: lakeside chalets, gîtes on the banks of the Seine, camping and caravans.

Culture-wise: the musée de la Batellerie de Poses located on the Seine à Vélo route offers a historical panorama of the life of the boatmen of the Seine on two boats: the listed tugboat “Le Fauvette” and the barge “Midway II”, for young and old alike. Also at Poses, take advantage of your stopover to try the great family bicycle investigation game offered by the Tourist Office: “Who stole my boat!” or the sound walk “L’Incroyable Parade de Poses“, available free of charge via the Legendr app, which will plunge you in a fun and innovative way into the history of Seine bargemen in the 19th century.

Another historic stopover on the Seine à Vélo in Seine-Eure, the medieval city of Pont-de-l’Arche plunges visitors into the past of a city rich in history, with typically Norman architecture and marked by Viking invasions as much as by the trade route offered by the river since medieval times.

This is your chance to download the free Legendr app and try your hand at the fun virtual reality tour “Pont-de-l’Arche Médiévale“!

Alone, with friends, with family, the Seine à Vélo route in Seine-Eure is accessible to all, for all tastes!
