The exhibition *Ciels, ma Normandie!* takes us on a journey of discovery through the Normandy sky—an enduring source of our imagination and aspirations, which became an integral part of our identity in the 19th century. Exploring the Normandy sky through art means embarking on a narrative that is intertwined with the history of art. From the sky as a divine space, depicted in medieval stained-glass and mosaic art, to the sky of modern and contemporary artists, via classical and Romantic painters, the exhibition aims to showcase the rich palette of Normandy’s skies, where, as they say, one can see all four seasons unfold in a single day. Paintings, photographs, watercolors, drawings, engravings, and text excerpts will shed light on the various ways of representing or describing the Norman sky, and will challenge the mental image we have of it. The exhibition features works by Norman and/or European artists, drawn from Norman and/or European museums, and juxtaposes historical visions with contemporary creations. It takes visitors on a poetic journey in which the sky—often treated in art as a mere element of the landscape—becomes the primary focus of our attention and that of the artists.
