%C0 As part of the national event “Rendez-vous aux jardins,” the Château de Gaillon opens its doors for a series of themed guided tours. Much more than just a stroll, these exclusive tours offer a captivating immersion into the history and transformations of the gardens. It’s also a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes: how can we balance the restoration of an exceptional heritage site with the rigorous preservation of its biodiversity today? To explore all facets of the Château de Gaillon, the tours are organized around three themes:
- A journey through time: A narrated exploration of the estate’s successive transformations. From the enclosed gardens of the medieval period to the sumptuous ceremonial gardens, which served as venues for diplomatic receptions during the Renaissance, to the food-producing and hunting grounds, and finally to the astonishing structural transformations of the prison era.
- A Haven for Biodiversity: Observe the park’s unsuspected ecological richness and explore the local fauna, with a special focus on our protected species— such as the elusive bats, the majestic falcons, or the fragile amphibians? as well as the concrete actions taken on a daily basis to preserve their natural habitats.
- The Gardens of Tomorrow: Discover the approach to sustainable landscape management, which seeks the perfect, harmonious balance between respect for the historic monument and ecological resilience.
