Visit a brewery in Normandy

and savour craft beers

Fine connoisseur or just curious novice, take advantage of your stay in Normandy to make a thirst-quenching stopover and spend a convivial moment at the Brasserie des Deux Amants in Val de Reuil. This young family brewery in Hauts Prés – Pôle d’Agriculture Biologique opens its doors to you and reveals the secrets of its unique flavours.

Blonde, white, red or brown, it doesn’t matter, the trend here is organic. Les Deux Amants craft beer is produced with an ecological approach. The watchword: the use of ingredients exclusively from organic farming.

To take ethics and respect for the environment even further, the beers are produced entirely locally, from the crushing of the grains to bottling. Brewed from organic malts, hops, yeast, organic sugar and water, Deux-Amants beers are neither filtered nor pasteurised and contain no additives or preservatives.

The result is a range of craft beers with character, available in 3 permanent beers: Mathilde, a light, floral thirst-quenching lager at 4.2°, Robert, a round, gourmet amber saison at 5°, and Raoul, an aromatic, fruity American Pale Ale at 6°. There’s also a wide range of ephemeral beers to vary the pleasures with the seasons and the brewer’s whims! In 2019, for example, the ephemera in the spotlight are Thérèse (a white beer with cucumber and ginger) and Mado (a light, aromatic table beer at 3°).

You’re sure to find one that delights your palate, whether it’s light and fruity or on the contrary robust and powerful.

A real taste of authenticity, appreciated by bubble and hop lovers!

This young, family-run craft brewery was created in 2017. It was born out of the passion of a man for his craft, Bruno Couchaud, a master brewer, and his partner Anne-Charlotte Bertrand, who decided to escape the urban environment, go green and together create an ecological project that made sense.

They then set up in Les Hauts Prés, at the Pôle d’agriculture biologique de Val de Reuil, which brings together market gardeners, an organic caterer, a beekeeper and organic associations. It was the bucolic setting they were looking for, perfectly in tune with their values and their commitment to the environment. From their workplace, the view of the Deux Amants hill, at the confluence of the Seine and Andelle rivers, is sumptuous and a great source of inspiration. With its roots firmly planted in the area, the adventure of Bière des Deux Amants has begun!

Meet the team of brewers for a captivating discovery of the production site, the ingredients and the know-how that go into making craft beer. While you’re there, let us tell you about the tragic legend of the Two Lovers, from which the brewery takes its name.

For visits, sales and tastings, the Brasserie des Deux Amants is open every Friday evening from 5pm to 8pm and Saturday mornings from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
