Advanced runners and running enthusiasts alike, join the crowds from all walks of life to take on the challenge and improve your personal best.
If you enjoy running on extremely flat terrain (start altitude: 25m, finish altitude: 10m) you’re in for a treat.
With a cumulative positive vertical drop of 37m, the Seine-Eure Marathon offers ideal conditions for a great sporting performance, whatever your level.
Organised by the Association Marathon Sport Evénement with the support of Etoile Athlétique Lovérienne and Val-de-Reuil Athlétique Club, these three sporting events are taking place together on the same day, on the same course closed to vehicular traffic for the occasion.
The marathon starts from the small village of Amfreville-sur-Iton. The picturesque route takes runners towards Acquigny, where they cross the Eure, then on to the village of Pinterville, before taking the greenway along the N154 to arrive in Louviers.
After crossing the towns of Louviers and Incarville, the route takes in Saint-Etienne-du-Vauvray (halfway point), Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray and then Portejoie. Passing between ponds and the Seine, the marathon runners reach Tournedos, Mesnil-de-Poses and the river towpath to the locks. This part of the race is an opportunity to take full advantage of the sumptuous and authentic views of unspoilt nature along the banks of the Seine.
The crossing of the Léry-Poses leisure centre runs alongside the Etang des Deux Amants, towards Val-de-Reuil to join a stretch of the greenway along the Eure. The finish is near the Arsenal theatre in the heart of Val-de-Reuil.
Far from the hustle and bustle of many urban marathons, the atmosphere at the Marathon Seine-Eure is warm and the support of the people of Eurois total.
Coming to Seine-Eure in October for the marathon is also a good way to discover the area without the many tourists who flock to Normandy in the summer. The weather is pleasant and the temperatures are still mild, so you can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities in the off-season.
