The guide du porteur de projet is intended for new owners of meublé de tourisme and chambres d’hôtes to help them with their procedures.
It’s a comprehensive tool that will enable you to discover in particular: definitions, steps prior to creating or opening a furnished tourist accommodation, definition of statutes, taxation, classifications and labels, but also subsidy opportunities, the state of regulations, and referencing your accommodation in the institutional tourism network.

Meublés de tourisme are accommodation “offered for rental to visiting customers who do not elect domicile there and who stay there for a period characterised by a daily, weekly or monthly rental (Article L. 324-1-1 of the French Tourism Code). The maximum duration of the rental that constitutes a seasonal rental may not exceed 90 consecutive days“. The furnished tourist accommodation is for the exclusive use of the lessor.
To start your activity as a furnished tourist accommodation or bed and breakfast lessor you must declare yourself to your town hall and wait for this document to be stamped. Without this document your accommodation is not legally recognised.
“Bed and breakfast” involves welcoming guests, renting them a furnished room with access to a shower room and WC, and providing breakfast. This is a professional activity of a commercial or agricultural nature. It can be carried out all year round or seasonally. It must be limited to 5 rooms and 15 guests simultaneously“
