2024 will undeniably be a year turned towards sport. And in Seine-Eure, it’s often in the great outdoors that it’s practised! Hiking and Trail form a popular duo in the heart of the Seine Valley, whether at the water’s edge or in the relief of the Seine hillsides, which give beautiful gradients and spectacular panoramas to our pretty corner of Normandy.
6 good reasons to come to Seine-Eure in 2024

1: trail and hiking
in Seine-EureTrail station
Already practicable and open to enthusiasts, there are currently 5 trail routes in the Rouen-Seine-Eure destination, including 3 starting from the Léry-Poses park in Normandy, created in partnership with the specialist app “On Piste”. A “trail station” that will be officially launched in March 2024, making the destination a real spot for lovers of nature running, before the opening in the coming months and years of other routes across the Rouen-Seine-Eure metropolitan area.

Walking from station to station
The year 2024 will also be a milestone for hiking enthusiasts in Seine-Eure, as March will also see the official launch of the long-awaited “La Seine-Normande à pied de gare à gare” route with the Rouen Seine-Eure metropolitan cluster and the Nouvelle Normandie territory. Already available here, this walking itinerary follows the route of the GR®2 and its variant on the banks of the Seine from Rouen station to Vernon-Giverny station, offering 4 splendid stages where nature and Normandy heritage come together. A 98km adventure without a car, a must-do in 2024!
2: Mystery in Poses
in springWe can’t reveal everything just yet, but spring 2024 will mark the launch of a mysterious story in the boating village of Poses, which may well win over many tourist sites in Seine-Eure in the future… The veil will be lifted at the beginning of April on the event to embark you on a reverie you haven’t heard the last of.
Bref, the secret is well kept, but remember that Poses is the place to be in April 2024!

3: An Impressionist year
on the banks of the SeineNormandy and particularly the Seine Valley are of course intimately linked with the Impressionist movement, which this year will be celebrating 150 years. From Paris to the sea via Giverny and Rouen, the banks of the Seine in Normandy have kept the imprint of the masters of the movement and remain conducive to inspiration. Seine-Eure has managed to preserve these representative landscapes and in 2024 the region will host several events linked to this anniversary, such as at the Louviers museum…
An opportunity to discover l’atelier-Galerie Michèle Ratel, a painter based in Poses who perpetuates the memory of her illustrious predecessors in her postimpressionist paintings. An artist who loves to chat with visitors and organises a costumed “impressionist festival” on the banks of the Seine once a year. It’s also the perfect opportunity for a river cruise to continue discovering the inspiring landscapes of Impressionism.
In 2024, to mark the 150th anniversary of the movement, Seine-Eure will also be the ideal and strategic location for visiting Giverny, its museum as well as the house of Claude Monet and its gardens but also, the Rouen Museum of Fine Arts 20 minutes away, which will host a major exhibition for the event.

4: A national Dog Friendly event
The first “Canidays” will be held in 2024 at the Léry-Poses park in Normandy! Canidays is the first national sporting and leisure event designed for dogs and their families. Over an entire weekend, from 23 to 25 August 2024, this 100% dog-friendly event promises to revolutionise holidays with your dog, with sports and leisure activities (night walks, orienteering, canicross, etc.), a village dedicated to the health and well-being of our four-legged friends and a host of family activities.

5: Olympic form in Normandy
or not...

In 2024, we couldn’t pass up the Olympic Games. Or rather, if but then really right next door! Because Seine-Eure, just 1 hour from Paris, is emerging as the ideal place to enjoy the games with all the advantages and none of the disadvantages. The area’s 3 stations, in Pont-de-l’Arche, Val-de-Reuil and Gaillon-Aubevoye all serve the capital and will allow sports fans to go and watch the events without worrying about traffic or parking while enjoying a relaxing stay in Normandy.
And for the others? Well, Seine-Eure will no doubt be a welcome back-up base for our Parisian friends who prefer the gentle way of life and serenity of Normandy to the hustle and bustle of the international event in the heart of the capital. In short, the perfect place to come and green up during the Games and why not, plan a few days or weeks of teleworking in a gîte, guest house, hotel, campsite, chalet, caravan, farm… In short, a quiet little corner?
6: A festival between land and water
A flagship event for the Seine-Eure region, the “Les Embarqués en Escales” festival will of course be a highlight of 2024. This major event, which features street shows: theatre, circus, music, dance, comedy… for several days in the rural and country communes of the area, will be held from 6 to 16 June 2024 and will, as usual be free. The selected companies will once again demonstrate their high quality with high-level shows.
New this year: there will be two days of festivities and shows at the parc de Léry-Poses in Normandy on 15 and 16 June. The grand final all-light show on the Lac des Deux-Amants on the evening of Saturday 15 also promises to be grandiose, with a veritable fairyland of drones and fireworks put on by the “Groupe F“, an internationally renowned company.
