Renaissance marvel
Let yourself be guided around this pioneering French Renaissance château, built a few years before the châteaux of the Loire.
Overlooking the town of Gaillon and the Seine valley, it was erected on the site of the medieval castle by the will of Cardinal Georges d’Amboise.
Transformed into a penitentiary centre and then into barracks, the French state bought it in 1975 and undertook extensive work to restore it to its former splendour.
