When the little secrets of Louviers arouse great curiosity…

A place of art and culture!

In the heart of the town centre studded with half-timbered houses and architectural treasures, history, art and the textile industry meet at the Musée de Louviers. It’s a historic site that’s well worth a visit to cultivate your curiosity and spend some quality time with the family.

An artistic and cultural heritage

to discover

From industrial past to contemporary Art

From the outside, the 19th-century building that houses the museum is remarkable. Its palatial facade is embellished with sculptures and its central pavilion is topped by a dome enhanced by a bell tower.

Inside, as well as its permanent collection on the Louviers textile industry, the museum promises great discoveries through rich and varied temporary exhibitions on contemporary art, history, earthenware, painting, photography, archaeology and heritage.

Located on the Place Thorel, the Musée de Louviers was created in 1872 and inaugurated in 1888 thanks to donations from the notary, collector and bibliophile Edouard Lanon, who financed its construction and bequeathed his collections to the town of Louviers.
